Hello from Munich everyone! I am staying in Germany for ten days in the lovely city of Munich. I must confess I LOVE GERMANY. The houses are so cute, the trees are present (a change from Tunis), Their are beautiful Cathedrals everywhere you look and above all...its Christmas!
Germany does Christmas right, every part of the city is decked out and in the city centre the annual Christmas festival is taking place where hundreds of cute wooden booths are set up selling decorations and delicious food (Gingerbread, mulled wine, warmed nuts, candy apples = Katie is in food heaven). I don't think I will ever be content with a Beaverton Oregon Christmas again (with the exception of seeing my family of course!).
On Saturday we traveled to Munich on the eurail and went to bed way early.
On Sunday we spent the entire day in Mareienplatz in the center of town and enjoyed the Christmas festival. Then we ate dinner at the famous brewhouse- Hofbrahaus.
On Monday we went to the Deusches Museum. A science and technology musem that puts OMSI to shame!
On Tuesday we went to the world famous Alte Pinakothek art museum. There I was spoiled rotten with a Botticeli, Raphael, da Vinci and a Bosch.
Today we went to Dachau, where the wet grey weather matched our mood as we wandered through the site.
Tomorrow we are planing or going to Neuschwanstein (the Disneyland castle) and then who knows what for the next three days. We kinda want to do a random cathedral hopping day where we peek into every one we pass.
Well I have pretty much fallen in love with Germany however, I still can't wait to see everyone!

Hi Katie! -
Theresa & I spent part of our honeymoon in Munich and loved it (have you seen or tried that black "fish on a stick"? - nicht mich!). As a bookend to Dauchau you might visit their tomb for the unkown soldier. It's a plain marble structure from the outside. Inside there is a bronze reclined German soldier laying atop a marble grave. When I was there (ealy 80's) people were still bringing in fresh flowers and I found their quiet grief moving (not the cause, of course!). And if you want to "nerd out" to the "Sound of Music" the way you did with Star Wars in Tunisia - then remember Salzburg in Austria isn't that far away! (by train) - Nestled in the Alps, and I would imagine it's beautiful during Christmas time......
Yikes! - You've got me drifting over travel memories! - - - I'd better get back to work....
Enjoy. The memories will last forever ~

PS: Um - Did you have one of those gigantic Hofbrau House beers? (Never mind - don't answer that)
